From Past to Present
The story of Les Rôtisseries Benny began in the region of Joliette in 1960 where the first Benny family’s rotisserie opened, named Joliette BBQ. The concept was simple: Offer a meal that is both tasty and of quality, for take-out or delivery.
Following this first success, Gérard Benny set up shop on the South Shore of Montréal and opened the first Benny rotisserie located at 200 St-Denis Street in St-Lambert in 1962, called “BENNY BBQ”. Its founder had already understood that the recipe for success camed from three fundamental principles: Quality, Quantity and Service. Over the years, these three principles gradually became the company’s motto. Thanks to hard work and respecting this motto the company rase to success.
After a few short years, and due to the success of this first restaurant, its original premises quickly became too small and the restaurant was move to a new, more spacious location. In 1967, just in time for the opening of Montreal’s World Fair and just across the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, the new location was officially opened at 1360 Ste-Foy Blvd. in Longueuil.
In the mid-1970s, the second generation (Pierre, Claude, Sylvie Benny and Sylvio Lafond) gradually took over the company. By working non-stop and respecting the same three principles, they were able to continue preparing BBQ chicken with the same skills that made it famous. In 1978, they opened a second location at 5500 Grande-Allée in St-Hubert. In 1980, the company changed its name to “Les Rôtisseries Benny”. A third location was opened in 1986 at 3066 Chemin Chambly and later moved to 2800 Chemin Chambly in Longueuil in 2005.
Throughout the years, the company continues to grow and eventually becames a real institution renowned throughout the region. Its reputation has been based on its exceptional BBQ chicken, but today, its famous Benny poutine is, according to many, Quebec’s best.
Years have gone by and it is now the time for the third generation to take over the company’s management. Today, there is 6 locations, nearly 250 employees and 60 delivery vehicles. With more than 50 years of know-how and original recipes passed down from generation to generation, the quality of each meal prepared in our restaurants is guaranted. The family is firmly committed to respecting the company’s motto that was created by the previous generations: Quality, Quantity and Service.
Finally, we are proud to announce that three new locations have recently opened in Boucherville, La Prairie and Beloeil.
